Works on Paper

For Pellehn Blum, the work almost always starts on paper. Once he chooses a poem to translate into a painting, he researches to build a visual vocabulary. For the series Nature Morte with Lobster and his Wife Pearls he collected images from Dutch Still Life painting and drew them in ink, watercolor, or pencil so that when approaching the canvas, his hand would be trained and he could easily access a visual vocabulary in his head.
